It is reported that the water level of the Rhine River is currently at an all-time low level, seriously affecting shipping. BASF said that despite the maximum shift to alternative modes of transport (pipelines, trucks and rail), not all raw materials could be smoothly supplied to BASF in Ludwigshafen (Ludwigshafen). As a result, BASF will have to stop production of TDI in Ludwigshafen. The timing of the resumption of production will depend on improving water levels in the Rhine. BASF’s TDI plant has an annual capacity of 300,000 tons. BASF will maintain close contact with customers.
