Ludwigshafen, Germany, Northborough, MA, USA – April 3, 2019 – BASF SE (BASF) and Aspen Aerogels AG (Aspen) today signed an exclusive supply Supplemental agreement, announced to expand the strategic partnership between the two parties. The supplemental agreement covers the production and supply of new high-performance flame-retardant insulation products. As a complement to SLENTEX® , the new product has performed very well in early tests with key customers.
SLENTEX, which is now on the market, represents the most advanced flame retardant insulation technology with its unique combination of industry-leading thermal conductivity and flame retardant insulation grade. SLENTEX was developed for unique applications in the field of construction and building materials, including facade systems, thermal bridges and transition areas. And this new type of insulation product will also be used in a wider range of fields than building materials.
Aspen has received a second upfront payment from BASF as part of the supplemental agreement to support product optimization and new process development. BASF has exclusive marketing rights for newly developed products.
