Did you know? Repairing damage to the finish of buildings, road signs, and train cars caused by graffiti often requires high costs and laborious labor.

For European transportation companies such as Deutsche Bahn, the surface of its train cars is the number one territory for graffiti enthusiasts to create. And these paints sprayed on without permission are not "artistic premiums", but cleaning purposes that may "squeeze the purse".

According to a study by the Association of German Cities, the annual loss caused by graffiti in Germany is as high as about 200 million euros.

In fact, removing graffiti is not only expensive, but also a complicated process. Specifically, Deutsche Bahn needed to train specialized employees to peel layer after layer of spray paint from the painted surfaces of trains. And this grueling work is done by hand with the help of strong chemical cleaners. Over time, the aforementioned chemical and mechanical cleaning processes can destroy the train's finish, which must then be fully restored at considerable expense. Repainting a train can cost up to 30,000 euros.

To help reduce these costs, Evonik has developed the VESTANAT® MF product. A highly effective paint system crosslinker, it forms a durable barrier against attack by chemical cleaners, protecting finished surfaces during the removal of graffiti stains. Extensive tests have also shown that this powerful protection also gives the paint excellent, long-lasting scratch resistance and makes it very resistant to damage from the sun and rain.
