According to the announcement of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the new national standard “General Specification for Waterproofing of Buildings and Municipal Engineering” GB55030-2022 will be implemented from April 1, 2023. This standard puts forward clear specifications and higher requirements for the whole life cycle of waterproofing projects, that is, from survey and design, construction to acceptance, operation and maintenance, and guarantees the rights and interests of the public in the long run. Among them, waterproof materials need to achieve excellent environmental protection, durability, and water resistance.
Waterproof coatings prepared from WACKER’s unique α-silane-modified polymers follow the latest waterproof specifications and easily help the industry develop.
Organotin-free, green and environmentally friendly
The α-silane modified polymer utilizes the structural advantages of the silane modified polymer to enable an advanced new formula without organotin catalysis, which greatly improves the environmental protection performance of the waterproof coating. In addition, the formula system does not need to be diluted with harmful substances such as solvents, and the end use is more environmentally friendly. At the same time, it can reduce the migration of small molecules to the surface and increase the service life.
Principle: α-silane-modified polymer is a α-silane-terminated polymer, its main chain is a soft polyether segment, and both ends are connected with α-silane containing isocyanate groups. Since the electron-pushing group in α-silane is only blocked by a methylene group, its crosslinking reaction speed is greatly improved, and it can be cured normally without tin catalysts in general formulation systems.
High waterproof performance, water resistance and weather resistance
Performance and advantages of waterproof coating prepared by α-silane modified polymer
Can be sprayed and applied directly on wet surfaces
The new low-viscosity water-repellent coatings made from WACKER’s silane-modified polymers can be applied by rolling or spraying.
Applied on a wet interface, the new silane-modified polymer performs better due to its special curing mechanism and good air permeability.
Wide range of applications, good storage performance
Waterproof coatings made of α-silane modified polymers can have good adhesion to most substrates such as concrete, cement blocks, glass, ceramic tiles, wood, etc. without primer. After construction, the surface is smooth without bubbling.
It can be used regardless of the waterproofing inside and around the house, such as waterproofing of rain gutters, waterproofing coatings on the lower layer of tiles, waterproofing under terraces or patios, roof waterproofing, roof skylights and wall seams, etc. Since the organic tin catalyst can not be added in the formula, the storage stability of the waterproof coating product is more superior.
With the implementation of the new national standard, the building waterproof market puts forward higher requirements for green, low-carbon and environmental protection. WACKER collaborated with strategic partners to vigorously promote α-silane modified polymer waterproof coatings, which were recognized by end customers. With its four innovative properties, it has broad application prospects in the market of architectural waterproof coatings.
