BASF and South China University of Technology reach strategic cooperation

BASF and South China University of Technology signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on June 21, covering multiple fields such as scientific and technological innovation cooperation, deep integration of industry-university-research institutes, and talent training.

The joint cooperation between BASF and South China University of Technology will focus on chemical engineering, materials, industrial intelligent solutions and other fields to deepen technological innovation and jointly create an innovative consortium. Based on the technology, product and market refinement research direction of subdivided fields, the two parties carry out industry-university-research cooperation in basic research, applied basic research, technology research and development, and forward-looking technology reserves. At the same time, the two parties will take the signing of this strategic cooperation as an opportunity to focus on cultivating more talents for the chemical industry and continue to play the core role of talents in the field of innovation.

As BASF’s largest investment project so far, BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base is committed to bringing added value to customers and the community through innovative technology and high-end product portfolio. Under the framework of this strategic cooperation, several cooperative scientific research projects between the base and South China University of Technology have been signed simultaneously. In the future, BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base will further enhance scientific research cooperation, and jointly promote scientific research innovation and joint training of high-level talents with universities and scientific research institutions including South China University of Technology.

Established in 2014, BASF Network for Open Research Asia (NAO) is a joint research platform jointly promoted by BASF and well-known universities and research institutes in the Asia-Pacific region. Since the establishment of NAO, BASF and its partners have completed more than 135 joint research projects. Relying on the NAO platform, BASF and South China University of Technology have been cooperating to explore cutting-edge research in the fields of plastic recycling, bio-based materials, polymer materials and engineering since 2019.
