Covestro and Arcesso’s breakthrough Arfinio® technology wins Red Dot Best of the Best Design Award

● An international award organized by Koelnmesse and Red Dot, recognizing outstanding achievements in setting new industry standards in form, function and sustainability

● This technology marks the first use of reaction injection molding (RIM) on aliphatic polyurethane.

● It quickly produces seamless, lightweight, durable and repairable materials

Covestro, a leading manufacturer of polymer materials, and Arcesso Dynamics, a manufacturer of customized polyurethane components, have recently won the "Best of the Best" award 2023 at the interzum trade show for their Arfinio® solutions. First introduced in October 2022, this breakthrough technology was honored for "an outstanding achievement that sets new standards". Organized by Koelnmesse in partnership with Red Dot, the award was presented at a ceremony on 8 May at the interzum trade fair in Cologne, which brings together leading players from the international furniture and interior design supply industry.

Arfinio® combines high-performance liquid polymers and unique minerals with reaction-based injection molding (RIM), which was not possible before. The technology produces truly seamless shapes without sheets and combines the main advantages of aliphatic chemistry, injection molding and solid surfaces: mechanical resistance, light stability and repairability, as well as low product weight, rapid production and improved Design freedom. As such, it enables manufacturers to incorporate complex shapes and functional properties in new and dynamic ways. The material also contributes to increased sustainability. It can be manufactured from partially bio-based raw materials, and at the end of its useful life, it can be ground up and reused in new products.
