Residents visit medical and health institutions an average of 6 times per person per year. The "Communique" shows that our country's government investment has continued to increase, medical and health resources have been improved and expanded, the health service system has been continuously improved, and the construction of a healthy China has been steadily advancing.

By the end of 2022, the number of medical and health institutions nationwide will reach 1,032,918, an increase of 1,983 over the previous year. There are 13 national medical centers and national regional medical centers for children across the country. There are 9.75 million beds in medical and health institutions nationwide, and the number of beds in medical and health institutions per 1,000 people will increase from 6.70 in 2021 to 6.92 in 2022. The total number of health personnel nationwide is 14.411 million, an increase of 425,000 over the previous year (an increase of 3.0%). There are 3.15 practicing (assistant) physicians per 1,000 population and 3.71 registered nurses per 1,000 population.
The total national health expenditure in 2022 is initially estimated to be 8,484.67 billion yuan, of which government health expenditure accounts for 28.2%; social health expenditure accounts for 44.8%; personal health expenditure is 2,291.45 billion yuan, accounting for 27.0%. The total health expenditure per capita is 6,010.0 yuan, and the total health expenditure accounts for 7.0% of GDP.

Among public hospitals at all levels, the average outpatient expenses per time in tertiary hospitals increased by 3.1%, while the average hospitalization expenses per time decreased by 4.0%.

In terms of maternal and child health, in 2022, my country's prenatal check-up rate for pregnant women will be 97.9%, and the postpartum visit rate will be 96.5%. Compared with the previous year, the rate of prenatal check-ups and postpartum visits has increased. In 2022, the national hospital delivery rate will be 99.94%, basically achieving all hospital deliveries.
According to the National Maternal and Child Health Monitoring, in 2022, my country’s child mortality rate under 5 years old will be 6.8‰, infant mortality rate will be 4.9‰, and the national maternal mortality rate will be 15.7/100,000, all of which have declined to varying degrees.
In 2022, a total of 8.162 million couples planning pregnancy will be provided with free examinations across the country, with an average target population coverage rate of 91.8%. All risk groups identified through screening received targeted consultation, guidance, treatment referral and other services, and implemented pre-pregnancy preventive measures, effectively reducing the risk of birth defects.
