Dimethicone is a transparent, colorless, tasteless, odorless and non-toxic oily liquid. According to the supply of dimethyl silicone oil, it has the characteristics of high flash point, low freezing point, good thermal stability, and high and low temperature resistance. It can be used for a long time at -50℃~+180℃. If it is isolated from air or in an inert gas, the temperature can reach 200℃. The surface silicon tension of the oil is very small, the compressibility is large, the shear resistance is good, the viscosity-temperature coefficient is small, and the dielectric loss is small; it is resistant to arcs, corona, and is not flammable; it is hydrophobic and moisture-proof, and it also has good physiological inertness.
Dimethicone can be used as an additive in plastic processing to improve the mold release and wear resistance of plastics:
Dimethicone is widely used as a release agent for various materials such as plastics and rubber. It has excellent high and low temperature resistance. Performance, light transmission, electrical properties, hydrophobicity, moisture resistance and chemical stability. Generally used for high-temperature demoulding of large molded products, such as phenolic resin and unsaturated polyester laminates.
In order to meet the needs of different uses, silicone oil is usually processed into solutions, emulsions and silicone pastes. Its composition and uses are as follows.
Solution: It is prepared by dissolving silicone oil in organic solvents such as carbon tetroxide, toluene or xylene. The concentration is generally 0.5 to 2%. Suitable for use at 60~110℃.
Emulsion: made of silicone oil, emulsifier and water, diluted to 0.5~2.0% when used. It is suitable for processing situations above 120℃ and products with complex shapes.
Silicone paste: smelted from silicone oil and ultrafine silica. It has good heat resistance and is suitable for products with large, smooth surface area and simple shapes.
