Antioxidant 168 is a white crystalline powder. Soluble in benzene, toluene and gasoline, insoluble in water and alcohols, with low volatility. It is a phosphite antioxidant with excellent performance. It has strong extraction resistance, is stable against hydrolysis, and can significantly improve the light stability of products. It can be used in combination with a variety of phenolic antioxidants.
1. Production method:
(1) Direct method: After heating and melting 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol, add trichloride Phosphorus reacts at a maximum reaction temperature of 190 to 200°C. Use ethanol to wash away unreacted 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol, then wash away phosphorus trichloride and hydrogen chloride with water, and finally recrystallize in high-grade ether and filter to obtain the finished product.
(2) Solvent method: Use toluene or xylene as the solvent and amines as the catalyst to react 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol with phosphorus trichloride, and use alcohol as the reactant or water for separation and washing to obtain the finished product.
2. Use:
Antioxidant 168 has the advantages of non-coloring, non-pollution, and good volatility resistance. Used in products such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyester and polyamide. Widely used in polymer materials such as polyolefins, styrene monopolymers and copolymers, elastomers, adhesives, engineering plastics (such as PE, PP, PVC, PS, polyamide, polycarbonate, ABS).
