According to this "Notice", 5G lightweight (RedCap, the abbreviation of Reduced Capability) technology is an important foundation for 5G to realize the Internet of people, machines, and things. It will build new infrastructure for the Internet of Things and empower the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. , play an active role in promoting the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy.
The "Notice" puts forward development goals: by 2025, the comprehensive capabilities of the 5G lightweight industry will be significantly improved, new products and new models will continue to emerge, the scale of integrated applications will increase, and security capabilities will be simultaneously enhanced.
In terms of steady development of the technology industry, by 2025, 5G lightweight standards will continue to evolve; a series of 5G lightweight and high-quality products will be formed to create a complete industrial system; and key links in the industry such as 5G lightweight chips, modules, and terminals will be promoted Costs continue to fall, and there are more than 100 end products.
In terms of application scale, by 2025, cities at or above the county level across the country will achieve lightweight 5G coverage; application scenarios in industry, energy, logistics, Internet of Vehicles, public security, smart cities and other fields will be more abundant; a number of Solutions that can be replicated and promoted will create more than five 5G lightweight application areas that can achieve millions of connections.
The "Notice" requires that the role of the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group be used as a platform to continue to promote specification formulation, technical testing and other related work, accelerate the maturity of the 5G lightweight industry, and promote the commercialization of 5G lightweight.
