From January to May this year, the newly installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in the country was 43.49 million kilowatts, accounting for 82.1% of the newly installed capacity of power generation in the country. Renewable energy has become the main body of new installed capacity of power generation in my country. In the past ten years, my country's total installed capacity of renewable energy power generation has reached 1.1 billion kilowatts, and the installed capacity of hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic power generation, and biomass power generation has ranked first in the world. Among them, the total installed wind power and photovoltaic grid-connected capacity is 670 million kilowatts, which is nearly 90 times that of 2012.
In the past ten years, my country has formed a relatively complete renewable energy technology industrial system. In the field of hydropower, it has the world's largest independent design and manufacturing capacity of one million kilowatts of water turbines. The rapid iteration of photovoltaic power generation technology has repeatedly broken the world record for battery conversion efficiency. Low wind speed, anti-typhoon, ultra-high tower, and ultra-high altitude wind power technologies are among the top in the world, and 10 MW offshore wind turbines have begun mass production.
In the past ten years, renewable energy has contributed to the construction of ecological civilization in our country. In 2021 alone, the scale of my country's renewable energy development and utilization is equivalent to 753 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxide emissions by approximately 2.07 billion tons, 400,000 tons, and 450,000 tons, respectively.
In January 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly stated in the 36th collective study of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee that more efforts should be made to plan and build coal-fired power plants based on large-scale wind and power bases and surrounded by clean, efficient, advanced and energy-saving coal power plants. In China today, from the Gobi desert to the blue sea, from the roof of the world to the vast plains, the development of renewable energy is showing great vitality. On the Jinsha River, the world's second largest Baihetan Hydropower Station has produced more than 30 billion kWh of clean electricity, continuously improving my country's ability to guarantee power supply. In Wenling, Zhejiang, the country's first tide-light complementary photovoltaic power station has been put into operation. The construction of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases focusing on deserts, Gobi and desert areas in my country has also begun. At present, the first batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic base projects of about 100 million kilowatts has started construction of more than 95 million kilowatts.
