Hyosung TNC, a Korean company mainly engaged in the fiber business, launched a series of environmentally friendly fiber products at the OR (Outdoor Retailer) 2023 exhibition held in Salt Lake City, USA.
At the exhibition, Hyosung TNC exhibited Regen Ocean nylon recycled from discarded fishing nets, the leading cause of ocean plastic pollution;
Regen Ocean Robic Fiber Made Of Ocean Nylon.
Hyosung collaborated with Osprey to launch the 2024 spring/summer Talon Earth series, using Hyosung TNC’s Regen Ocean
Robic fiber. The product is a technical backpack made primarily from recycled materials including fabric, sewing thread and zipper plastic. The pack is on par with existing products in terms of comfort and durability, and it’s also Osprey’s first Bluesign-certified pack.
Bluesign is developed by Swiss Bluesign
A sustainability standard for the environment, health and safety controlled by the Technologies Group. Bluesign reviews the material composition of goods and the entire production process, such as work stability and whether pollutants are produced, including matters involving the safety of final consumers, to ensure that goods are safe for both producers and consumers.
Recently, Hyosung completed LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) by comparing 1kg of recycled nylon made from discarded fishing nets with 1kg of existing nylon. It was found that using Regen
Ocean Nylon can reduce CO2 emissions by 73%, fossil fuel use by 75.7% and water consumption by up to 98.6%.
Hyosung Chairman Cho
Hyun-joon said, “No other company in the world can produce recycled fiber products made from the three main chemical fibers. As a leader in the field of eco-friendly fibers, Hyosung will continue to focus on product-related research and development to achieve sustainable and an active lifestyle.”
