Affected by factors such as temperature and climate changes, crude oil price fluctuations, agricultural production progress, and construction progress in June 2023, coal prices in Inner Mongolia will decrease month-on-month. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce’s production materials market monitoring system, in June, the average price of coal in Inner Mongolia was 802.66 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 4.7%, and a decrease of 16.7% compared with the same period last year (hereinafter referred to as the year-on-year period). Among them, the average price of anthracite No. 2 washed lump coal was 836.29 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 5.7%, and a year-on-year decrease of 11.9%; A decrease of 17.3%; the average price of one-third of coking coal was 887.05 yuan/ton, a decrease of 3.6% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 20.8%.
The Department of Commerce of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region stated that the operating rate of coal enterprises has increased, the port inventory is high, and the market supply capacity has increased. The off-season seasonal demand leads to a drop in daily consumption of power plants, and weak demand in the downstream market. The overall market is dominated by wait-and-see, transaction activity is sluggish, and some traders and terminal purchases have slowed down, which jointly drove the month-on-month decline in coal prices. It is expected that the coal market will be stable in the near future, and prices will fluctuate.
