The Guangzhou Port Authority announced on the 18th that in the first half of this year, Guangzhou Port completed a vehicle throughput of 680,000 vehicles, of which 270,000 were foreign trade vehicles, an increase of 2.6%. Among them, the throughput of foreign trade ro-ro vehicles in the Nansha Port Area of Guangzhou Port reached 92,671 vehicles, an increase of 45.88% over the same period last year, and the scale hit the best level in the same period in history.
As one of the first ports designated by the state for the import of complete vehicles, Guangzhou Port has successively built Xinsha Automobile Berth, Nansha Automobile Terminal, Haijia Automobile Terminal, and Jinyang Automobile Terminal since 2004, forming the "East Coast's Sinsha, Nansha on the West Bank" car ro-ro operation pattern. At present, Guangzhou Port has 12 special berths for car ro-ro and a car yard of 2 million square meters, with an annual operating capacity of more than 3 million cars and a one-time storage capacity of more than 80,000 cars.
In recent years, Guangzhou Port has coordinated resources and built a vehicle logistics collection and distribution network that integrates various routes such as roads, railways, and waterways, as well as various transportation methods such as roll-on-roll-off and containers. In terms of "rail-water combined transport", five commercial trains have been opened between Guangzhou and Chengdu, Liuzhou, Chongqing, Hefei, and Guiyang. After the opening of the Nansha Port Railway in December 2021, the capacity of "rail-water intermodal transport" has been further enhanced. In 2022, the total number of commercial vehicles and railway collection and distribution ports will reach 58,000. At the same time, the first ro-ro barge "Huadu" in the Pearl River Basin will be put into operation in March 2022, realizing the seamless connection of "Huadu-Nansha/Xinsha" and providing short-distance barge services for Huadu Nissan and other brands.
The relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Port Authority stated that it will focus on promoting the opening of near-ocean ports, and form a professional, large-scale, integrated ro-ro car foreign trade terminal cluster with Nansha Automobile Terminal and Haijia Automobile Terminal. , to achieve both the quality and quantity of Nansha Automobile Port, and to help the high-quality development of Guangzhou's port industry.
