China Three Gorges Corporation announced on the 13th that Yangtze Power, a subsidiary of the Three Gorges Corporation, is responsible for ensuring power supply during the peak summer, and operates and manages six cascaded power stations in Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges, and Gezhouba on the main stream of the Yangtze River. On July 11 and 12, the peak shaving volume broke the historical record in 2022 for two consecutive days, and the highest peak shaving volume exceeded 32 million kilowatts, effectively alleviating the tension in electricity consumption in East China and Central China.
According to the person in charge of CYPC, in the face of the severe test of continuous high temperature weather and high load, CYPC has implemented various power protection measures and made every effort to meet the peak summer. Strengthen meteorological and hydrological forecasting, strengthen scheduling consultations, dynamically track electricity demand in power-receiving areas, and optimize scheduling plans; increase equipment inspections, online monitoring, and diagnostic analysis to strengthen risk prevention and control. Since July, the peak operating units of the six cascade power stations have reached 97 units, and the highest single-day power generation has exceeded 900 million kWh. The peak-shaving capacity of the 1.2 million-kilowatt pumped storage power station has broken the historical record of 26.175 million-kilowatt peak-shaving capacity in 2022 for two consecutive days, giving full play to the role of the backbone power point of the "West-to-East Power Transmission" cascade power station, with a large peak-shaving capacity, The role of the green engine is highlighted.
The person in charge said that during the energy supply guarantee for the summer peak season, the cascade power stations have increased their output several times. On July 11, all 8 generating units of Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station were fully powered, and 16 generating units of Baihetan Hydropower Station were fully operational for the first time. On July 12, Xiluodu Power Station, Gezhouba Power Station and Baihetan Power Station were fully operational.
According to reports, under the unified dispatch of the State Grid and the Southern Power Grid, Yangtze Power will continue to strengthen the forecast of water and rain in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the temperature forecast in the power receiving area, optimize the control of the water level of the power station, prepare a lean dispatch plan, and strengthen equipment operation and maintenance management. Ensure that the cascade power stations should generate as much power as possible and can generate more power.
