On June 27, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao submitted China's letter of acceptance of the WTO "Fishery Subsidies Agreement" protocol to WTO Director-General Iweala in Tianjin, marking that China has completed the acceptance of the "Fishery Subsidies Agreement" Domestic legal process.
The Fisheries Subsidies Agreement is the WTO's first agreement aimed primarily at achieving environmental sustainability goals, and was reached at the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC12) on June 17, 2022. According to the provisions of the Marrakech Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization, the Fisheries Subsidies Agreement will enter into force after more than two-thirds of WTO members accept it.
