Four more victims were found. A total of 9 people died in the accident, 1 was injured and 1 lost contact. At present, on-site disposal and aftermath work is being carried out in an orderly manner.

A preliminary analysis of the cause of the accident

On May 2, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management, at about 8:36 on May 1, 2023, the No. 1 hydrogen peroxide device of Shandong Liaocheng Luxi Chemical Hydrogen Peroxide New Material Technology Co., Ltd. exploded, causing heavy casualties. The preliminary analysis of the cause of the accident is that when the hydrogen peroxide device working fluid configuration kettle is used to recover the working fluid, a large amount of 70% concentration hydrogen peroxide is inhaled, and there may be impurities in the kettle that cause the hydrogen peroxide to decompose violently, causing an overpressure explosion in the configuration kettle, causing casualties on site, and spreading to The octanol storage tank and some pipelines of the adjacent enterprise leaked and burned. The detailed cause is under investigation.
