Recently, CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. successfully won the bid for Segment 1 of the second phase offshore wind power project at the South U1 site of Shandong Triton Peninsula, State Power Investment Corporation, with a capacity of 229.5MW and a total of 27 units of 8.5MWD230 Units, the total order is 757 million yuan. This project marks the historic breakthrough of CRRC's wind power industry, reached a new milestone, and started a new journey of advancing both on land and sea.
The 8.5MWD230 offshore unit that won the bid this time adopts a series of advanced technologies and costs such as regional customized blade design, lightweight semi-direct drive structure, high fault-tolerant electrical system, top-mounted box transformer, integrated hoisting, and intelligent operation and maintenance. The optimal design concept not only has excellent aerodynamic performance, but also has high reliability and cost performance, as well as good maintainability.
The impeller diameter of the unit reaches 230 meters, and the sweeping area is about 41,500 square meters, which is equivalent to about 5.8 standard football fields. According to the evaluation, the power generation performance of the blades is at an excellent level among domestic and foreign blades with a length of more than 100 meters.
According to estimates, under the rated wind speed, the unit can generate 18 kWh per revolution, and a single unit can output about 26 million kWh of clean electricity per year. According to the normal electricity consumption of ordinary households, the project won the bid will generate 700 million kWh of clean electricity per year, which can meet the electricity demand of about 360,000 households, reduce coal consumption by 205,000 tons, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 520,000 tons.
CRRC Zhuzhou Institute is a core subsidiary of CRRC and one of the earliest enterprises to enter the wind power industry.
In 2020, CRRC proposed to build the wind power industry into an important growth pole besides rail transit. And Zhuzhou, which includes new energy equipment industrial clusters and industrial chains such as wind power complete machines, blades, and generators, has already become the city with the most complete distribution of core products of wind power equipment in the country.
Relying on a strong supply chain foundation, profound technical research and development strength and rich experience in the marine equipment industry, in the field of offshore wind power, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute has cooperated with leading supply chains for decades and has accumulated a wealth of experience. A strong supply chain support system and an efficient joint development platform have been built, providing strong support for the R&D and design of offshore wind power complete machines.
The acquisition of the first offshore batch project is both a new breakthrough and a new starting point. In April 2023, one of the top ten technological research projects in Hunan Province led by CRRC Zhuzhou, the "Key Technology of Ultra-high-power Offshore Wind Turbine in Deep and Far Sea" project was officially launched.
