The latest data from the General Administration of Customs shows that in April 2022, China imported 30.98 million tons of thermal coal (including lignite, bituminous coal and sub-bituminous coal, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 65.69% and a month-on-month increase of 4.44%.
From January to April, China imported a total of 105 million tons of thermal coal, an increase of 48.834 million tons or 86.72% year-on-year.
In April, China imported 15.395 million tons of lignite, a year-on-year increase of 29.67%, and a month-on-month decrease of 10.3%.
From January to April, China imported a total of 572.86 billion tons of lignite, a year-on-year increase of 25.61 million tons or 80.85%.
