Recently, the PPG Electric Vehicle and Smart Travel Innovation Application Center project has completed joint acceptance and is expected to be officially put into use in May.
The total investment of the project is nearly 200 million yuan. It is located in the east area of Tianjin Economic Development Zone, with a construction area of 4706.38 square meters. The project will build power battery-related material application laboratories and material application test lines to accelerate the industrial application of new technologies in the industry and comprehensively improve PPG’s R&D and application capabilities in the field of electric vehicle battery materials. After the completion of the project, the module process will be applied to carry out the application and research and development of individual coatings or combined coating products for automotive battery workpieces, helping to improve the safety, durability, mileage, sustainability and production efficiency of electric vehicles.
The Electric Vehicle and Smart Travel Innovation Application Center is an important layout of PPG in the field of electric vehicles and mobile travel. As a leader in the coatings industry worldwide, PPG has developed in Tianjin for nearly 30 years, and the Tianjin plant has become the world’s largest coatings production base. In February last year, PPG headquarters finalized the establishment of the world’s first electric vehicle and smart travel innovation application center project in Tianjin. The project focuses on the technical problems of new energy vehicle battery packs in terms of fire prevention and corrosion, to overcome scientific research difficulties, improve the safety of batteries, and prolong their service life. Now the project has ushered in the joint acceptance of planning, fire protection, housing construction and other departments, and successfully passed it. It will be put into production at the end of May.
