● DABCO® PM 301 complements and optimizes Chemours’ ultra-low GWP Opteon™ 1100 and Opteon™ 1150 blowing agents to provide higher thermal performance and environmental benefits
● Evonik and Chemours continue to support the spray polyurethane foam industry’s successful adoption of fourth-generation blowing agent technology
Evonik, the market and innovation leader in polyurethane additives, strengthens its high-performance product range for the spray polyurethane foam (SPF) industry with the launch of DABCO® PM 301. DABCO®
Combined with the latest Opteon™ 1100 and Opteon™ 1150 blowing agents from global chemical company Chemours, PM 301 improves the thermal performance and increases efficiency of spray polyurethane foam systems.
Spray polyurethane foam is one of the most effective modern insulation materials for driving energy savings in buildings due to its low thermal conductivity and ability to prevent heat leaks, and new product combinations can further improve insulation. In addition, Chemours’ Opteon™ hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) blowing agents can significantly reduce the global warming potential (GWP) compared to traditional hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) blowing agents. For example, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), 2018 Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion Research and Monitoring Programs, Opteon™
The ultra-low GWP value of 1150 is 16, which is 100 times lower than that of traditional HFC blowing agents.
Christian, head of Evonik’s Polyurethane Insulation business
“The need to reduce the GWP footprint and ozone-depleting construction emissions while maintaining blowing agent compatibility for spray polyurethane foam systems requires innovative tools to help the industry best optimize new HFO-based blowing agents,” said Eilbracht.
“DABCO® PM
301 greatly improves efficiency and improves our Opteon™ 1100 and Opteon™ based
1150 Thermal Properties of Spray Polyurethane Foam Systems. Our portfolio of low-GWP, non-flammable foam blowing agents manufactured with HFO technology provides high-performance insulation and heat resistance in foam blowing applications, helping our customers achieve what they want through sustainable, energy-efficient products. required product reliability. ”
Matthew, Vice President Americas, Evonik Comfort & Insulation Division
“For decades, we have developed a strong product portfolio for the spray polyurethane foam market and have been at the forefront of transforming many blowing agent technologies,” said Aldag. Partners are collaborating to drive and develop high-performance solutions that support the transformation of fourth-generation blowing agents and reduce the global warming potential of HFO.”
DABCO® PM 301 is non-flammable and can reduce the required amount of blowing agent while maintaining the physical properties of the foam. Combining DABCO® PM 301 with Opteon™
Benefits of using 1100 with Opteon™ 1150 blowing agent include:
● Dissolve blowing agent and suppress vapor pressure of resin
● Reduce the viscosity of polyols
● Improve spraying output
● Improve thermal performance of foam
● Produce fine, uniform air cells
