Huntsman Building Solutions announced that it specified HEATLOK XT High Efficiency Spray Foam for Reliability Excellence Center (REC) facility enhancement engineering at Huntsman’s world-class polyurethane manufacturing facility in Geismar, Louisiana.

Commenting on the revamp, Mark Dearman, Huntsman Director of Operations and General Manager of the Geismar facility said, “As the leading MDI producer in North America, the Geismar facility enables Huntsman Building Solutions to produce high-performance spray foams. Insulation and roofing. It is important not only that the Reliability Center of Excellence retrofit at this plant optimizes work efficiency and flexibility, but also the efficacy and long-term value we generate for it using our own spray foam in the building envelope feel proud.”

The Reliability Center of Excellence is a 22,000 square foot metal building that houses Huntsman’s maintenance and reliability teams and its operations. As part of the renovation, Huntsman expanded the facility, adding a repair shop and work space for its employees.

Huntsman Building Solutions’ HEATLOK XT high-efficiency spray foam was selected as the insulation for the facility expansion. This material is ideal for thermal insulation in commercial and residential buildings. Closed-cell spray foam enhances thermal resistance, acts as an air barrier and traps water vapor, resulting in a specialized building envelope. HEATLOK XT High Efficiency Spray Foam can be used both indoors and outdoors and is available in a variety of formulations for different temperatures. Spray foam is NFPA 285 tested and ABAA rated.

Simon Baker, President of Huntsman Building Solutions, said: “Heatlok XT High Efficiency Spray Foam was chosen in part because its closed-cell, rigid structure provides a proven waterproof barrier in addition to its superior energy efficiency .” “This spray foam is FEMA Level 5 compliant, which means it can be cleaned and dried in situations where severe flooding could occur, which happens to be a weather risk in the area.”

Grace Hebert Curtis Architects specified spray foam for the project. The facility’s general contractor, Arkel Constructors, selected Rader’s Insulation, a premium insulation contractor providing residential, commercial and industrial services in Louisiana, to operate the spray foam. Rader’s Insulation sprayed the foam insulation onto the ceiling, directly onto the base of the roof deck, and onto the walls, siding between the metal studs.

Nick Rader, owner of Rader’s Insulation, said: “HEATLOK XT High Efficiency Spray Foam Insulation is ideal for optimizing commercial installations in areas where severe storms are likely. Using this spray foam ensures long-term energy savings and saves money. Protect against risks from hurricanes and floods.
