Bayer MaterialScience is a leading producer of high-tech polymer materials. Recently, the company released a new type of water-based polyurethane (PU): INSQIN, which is used in the production of PU leather, and can better protect worker safety and promote sustainable development.
The properties of INSQIN provide safer and sustainable coated fabric solutions for the footwear and apparel industry. With INSQIN, all kinds of coated fabrics can be produced without adding solvents, thus making the working environment safer for employees.
About 7 billion pairs of shoes, 2 billion bags and 1 billion pieces of clothing are produced every year using PU leather and other PU coated fabrics.
By eliminating the pollution risks caused by pretreatment, including water pollution, air pollution and hazardous solid waste, INSQIN polyurethane reduces the environmental hazards of products to the local ecosystem. In addition, INSQIN consumes 95% and 50% less water and energy than traditional solvent-based products.
INSQIN polyurethane is designed to maintain the inherent characteristics of PU leather, including soft hand, high durability and a large number of porous structures. INSQIN can be used for a variety of fabrics used in general PU leather production, including woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics (including microfibers), and knitted fabrics.
Using the company's research and development facilities and test equipment, Bayer can directly cooperate with brand owners to develop new materials with special properties and serve customers. Subsequently, the company's technology is used for production.
