According to the latest data released by China Customs, in May 2023, the import volume of tetrahydrofuran (THF) in mainland China A total of 279 tons, a year-on-year growth rate of -55%, an average of 2224 US dollars / ton. In terms of major import destinations, in May Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Germany and Spain were mainland China The five main import sources of tetrahydrofuran (THF) accounted for more than 99.9% of imports by import weight. As far as the place of registration is concerned, THF in mainland China was mainly imported to Sichuan, Zhejiang and Guangdong in May.
In terms of major export destinations, in May, South Korea, India, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Belgium were mainland China The five main export destinations of tetrahydrofuran accounted for nearly 92.4% of the total export volume. From the point of view of the place of registration, THF in mainland China was mainly exported from Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan and Jiangsu in May.
In the past few years, the import of tetrahydrofuran in mainland China has increased significantly. This is mainly due to the substantial increase in demand caused by global public health events, and the price of imported tetrahydrofuran is more cost-effective than domestic ones. However, under the dual pressure of falling raw material prices and weak demand recently, many downstream manufacturers have begun to choose domestic THF. For example, at the end of last year, as one of the largest producers of tetrahydrofuran in China, Hengli Petrochemical has widely used tetrahydrofuran in the R&D and production of innovative drugs.
