Lubrizol Corporation announced that the company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Songjiang, Shanghai on the eve of the Spring Festival to start a new compounding production line. The new production line is part of Lubrizol's global strategic capacity expansion plan and will support the company's engineered polymers business and well-known product lines including Estane® thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers.

The capacity expansion in China is part of Lubrizol's strategic investment in the Engineering Polymers division, which is expected to total $80 million globally.

Songjiang plant's new compounding production line was inaugurated in February and will be officially put into operation in the first quarter of this year.

In addition, the new reaction extrusion production line will be put into production in the second half of this year.

Lubrizol is expanding its capacity because it expects demand for specialty elastomers and compounds to grow at a double-digit rate. The new compounding line will increase its ability to produce personalized and functional TPU and elastomeric compounds, with sufficient capacity to Make sure it grows in the short term. Lubrizol is the first foreign-funded enterprise investing in the local production of TPU in China. The capacity expansion of the Songjiang factory is the fourth round of large-scale expansion since the factory started producing TPU in early 2000. The Songjiang factory has been in continuous operation for more than three years without any accidents, and its production and operation are extremely stable.
