The upgrade includes reorganizing the factory's production process and introducing automatic dosing device technology to improve paint production efficiency. A new raw material warehouse, research laboratory and technology application center will also be built. Construction is set to start in April 2019 and the project is expected to be completed by 2020.

AkzoNobel has long provided the world's leading manufacturers of cabinets, furniture, flooring and building products with high-quality industrial wood finishes to beautify and protect their products. AkzoNobel is very proud of this. Currently, the High Point facility occupies 30 acres and employs more than 250 people. The facility produces a variety of products including UV-curable wood coatings, solvent-borne and water-based wood coatings such as paints, stains and varnishes.

Simon Parker, General Manager of AkzoNobel's Industrial Coatings business, added: "By investing in the High Point facility, we will be able to ensure the satisfaction of all our customers and partners, including direct OEM architectural products customers and Chemcraft's distribution partners.

Prior to this, AkzoNobel built a new large warehouse in La Porte, Texas last year, which has become the regional central hub of the company's marine and protective coatings business. Just a few weeks ago, AkzoNobel opened an advanced R&D innovation center at its Felling site in the UK.
