At around 14:48 pm on March 21, an explosion occurred in Jiangsu Tianjiayi Chemical Co., Ltd., located in Chenjiagang Town, Xiangshui County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. As of 7 a.m. on the 22nd, 44 people were killed, 32 were critically ill, 58 were seriously injured, and some people were slightly injured.
After the accident, Jiangsu has successively dispatched 12 city fire rescue detachments, a total of 73 squadrons, 930 commanders, 192 fire trucks, and 9 heavy construction machinery to the scene for disposal. As of 7:00 on the 22nd, all 3 burning storage tanks and 5 fire points have been extinguished.
Jiangsu Tianjiayi Chemical Co., Ltd., where the accident occurred, was established in April 2007. It covers an area of about 220 acres and has 195 employees, including 45 engineering and technical personnel. It mainly produces chemical raw materials and chemical products, and its business scope includes m-hydroxybenzoic acid, anisole, etc. Zhang Qinyue, general manager of Tianjiayi Chemical Co., Ltd. in charge of Xiangshui, was injured in the accident and received medical treatment. All relevant personnel have been controlled by the public security organs.
At present, the local area has mainly done several aspects of work:
One is: Immediately carry out on-site rescue, and make every effort to organize fire fighting and personnel search and rescue.
Second: Emergency treatment of the injured. At present, there are 3,500 medical personnel, 16 hospitals, and 90 ambulances participating in the treatment, receiving and treating 640 wounded.
The third is: Properly evacuate and resettle the masses. In order to prevent secondary accidents, we organized door-to-door investigations and guided more than 3,000 enterprise employees and nearly 1,000 people from Sigang Village, Liugang Village, and Lili Village in Chenjiagang Town to evacuate to a safe area. Affected schools and kindergartens will temporarily suspend classes starting today.
Fourth: Comprehensively carry out environmental monitoring. Air quality and water environment quality were closely tracked, and drinking water for the masses was not affected.
