BASF will continue to expand its MDI plant with an investment of US$87 million. For more than 30 years, the unit has been the heart of its Geismar factory. The company has invested $150 million in the expansion of the first phase of the MDI plant. The project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2020. The second phase of the expansion project will preserve the company's existing 1,238 jobs in Geismar. Geismar is the company's largest manufacturing facility in North America. Construction of the project is expected to start in late 2019 and be completed in 2021. The company estimates the project will support 170 construction jobs.
