BASF today celebrated the achievement of the 500,000th batch of units in the first batch of its BASF Guangdong Integrated Base Project in Zhanjiang The safe construction record of working hours is another symbolic progress since the first batch of devices at the base began piling construction on May 30, 2020.

The BASF Guangdong Integrated Base Project was announced in July 2018 and officially launched in November 2019. This is BASF’s largest overseas investment project so far, with an estimated total investment of about US$10 billion, and will be independently constructed and operated by BASF. After completion, the base will become BASF’s third largest integrated production base in the world, second only to Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Antwerp, Belgium. The first batch of devices in the project will produce engineering plastics and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The first device is expected to be put into operation in 2022, so as to meet the needs of customers in various growth industries in South China and the entire Asian market.
