Recently, the first plant of BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base was modified by Performance Materials Business Unit The engineering plastics plant was completed and put into operation. The first modified engineering plastics plant uses 100% renewable energy. The carbon footprint of all production plants of BASF's Performance Materials business unit in China has been further reduced, and 2/3 of carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced from production plants and the use of renewable energy.

The capacity of the first plant will be mainly used to meet the market demand for sustainable transportation products. The new Ultramid® Advance grade offers the ideal balance of high flow, toughness and flame resistance required for connectors, enabling customers to achieve miniaturization through thin walls in high-throughput electronics applications. New grades of polyamide offer color stability and heat aging resistance for long-lasting color coding. The optimized red phosphorus flame-retardant polyamide strengthens the flame-retardant product portfolio and meets the technical requirements of electric vehicles, especially batteries and power electronics. The new product range provides flame retardant material solutions for battery systems, booster piles, and solar infrastructure. These colors, flame retardant and special specifications can better meet the needs of the automotive, electronics and electric vehicle industries in South China and Asia.

In addition, BASF's Ultrasim® computer simulation system can help design time-saving and more efficient completion of suitable electric travel solutions.

The thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) plant will be in operation in the second half of 2023. It will be BASF's largest thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) production line. The products will be used in electric vehicle charging guns and charging cables.

On November 23, 2019, the Zhanjiang Integrated Base held a ground-breaking ceremony. After the integrated base is completed, it will be the third largest integrated production base in the world, and it will also be the first batch of devices that use 100% renewable energy. The first batch of engineering plastic modification units put into operation will increase the production of modified engineering plastics by 60,000 tons per year for the Chinese market, and increase the total production capacity of this product in the Asia-Pacific region to 420,000 tons from 2023.
