Ding Jiansheng, born in November 1954, is a researcher, an expert who enjoys special government allowances from the State Council, and a specially-appointed expert for the post of “Taishan Scholar” in the province. He is currently the chief engineer of Yantai Wanhua Synthetic Leather Group Co., Ltd., the president of Yantai Wanhua Industrial Group Co., Ltd., the chairman of Yantai Wanhua Polyurethane Co., Ltd., and the director of the National Polyurethane Engineering Technology Center. Ding Jiansheng led a team composed of 21 domestic and foreign doctors and more than 100 masters, and was awarded “Excellent Innovation Team” by the provincial government and recorded first-class collective merit.
“It is impossible to introduce high-tech with real market potential, and it is impossible to buy technological innovation capabilities with money.” Ding Jiansheng couldn’t hide his excitement. “Without the development and innovation of science and technology, and without mastering the core technology with independent intellectual property rights, China’s national enterprises will not really embark on the road of scientific development.”
MDI is an unfamiliar name to many people, but it is the key material for the production of automobiles, refrigerators, handbags and other products, and it is also the most important raw material for the production of polyurethane. It is MDI, which Ding Jiansheng has been striving for for decades. “In the 1980s, we imported a set of synthetic leather production equipment from Japan. The production of synthetic leather requires the production of polyurethane. Domestic enterprises cannot produce polyurethane, let alone MDI; the MDI production equipment imported as a set is relatively backward, and the production capacity is less than 10,000 tons.” After nearly five years, Ding Jiansheng still could not introduce the core technology of MDI. The general manager of a certain MDI multinational company told Ding Jiansheng that if this technology is sold, the company will be like the sun that is about to set. These words made Ding Jiansheng unforgettable all his life. He realized that independent innovation may not be a panacea, but it is the DNA of the survival of chemical enterprises.
Since the 1980s, Ding Jiansheng has led the MDI research, development and innovation team to carry out long-term and arduous exploration and research and development work. He took the lead in establishing the computer simulation of the MDI process and the computer mathematical model of the MDI core chemical reaction in China, developed the first domestic MDI manufacturing process technology software package, and successfully applied it to the transformation of 15,000 tons of MDI equipment. Subsequently, Ding Jiansheng presided over the national key industrial technology development project and solved the three core technical problems of condensation reaction, phosgenation reaction and separation and refining, making my country the fifth company in the world with MDI manufacturing technology after Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan A country with independent intellectual property rights. Through integrated innovation, Ding Jiansheng successfully developed three key technologies: continuous condensation reaction, continuous polyamine phosgenation reaction, and continuous separation and purification of crude MDI, and successfully applied them to industrial production, realizing the full continuous production of MDI in my country, making my country The technical level and product quality of MDI have reached the international advanced level.
In order to make the national MDI industry have international competitiveness, Ding Jiansheng successfully developed a series of core key technologies for MDI manufacturing at the international leading level, and pioneered the clean production technology of MDI amine-containing waste brine recycling in the world, making my country a The third country in the world with world-class MDI production technology.
Talking about Wanhua’s competitive advantages in the future, Ding Jiansheng once again talked about innovation. “The environmentally friendly coatings, building energy-saving materials we have developed, and the straw boards we are developing are all projects with broad prospects. Past success depends on innovation, and future development will also depend on innovation.”
