“BASF’s industrial planning complies with and supports the national industrial policy”
The development of strategic emerging industries is an important strategic task, and it is of great significance to maintain long-term stable and rapid economic development under the current situation of increasing downward pressure on economic operation.
Dr. Lou said: “BASF is very supportive of the country’s emerging industry development plan and the ’12th Five-Year’ development plan. We support the adjustment of industrial structure, and we pay more attention to sustainable development, especially industries related to green, environmental protection, energy conservation, and emission reduction. .”
Dr. Lou gave reporters a few examples. In automotive applications, BASF uses polyurethane composite materials to reduce vehicle weight, fuel consumption and emissions; in the construction industry, polyurethane walls have better thermal insulation performance; in the textile industry, BASF has developed Melt-spun spandex based on thermoplastic polyurethane, the solvent-free production process reduces organic emissions and processing temperature, leading the green Spandex industry development. “We are optimistic about the application of environmental protection, energy saving and green development, which is also very consistent with the country’s industrial policy.”
Facing the Chinese market, BASF has carefully planned and strategized
BASF Polyurethanes Division focuses on Asia, especially the Chinese market. BASF’s polyurethane composite plant in Tianjin is scheduled to start production in 2012, and will provide customers with top-level personalized polyurethane solutions through local production, sales, technical services and development teams; Putting into operation, the annual output of MDI is 400,000 tons; BASF operates several polyurethane factories and the Asia-Pacific Technology Center in Shanghai Pudong Base, as well as the soon-to-be-completed BASF Asia-Pacific Innovation Park, which will become one of BASF’s main global bases.
These investments and enhanced research and development efforts are aimed at supporting the maturing Chinese market and the growing Southeast Asian market. Dr. Lou said that BASF has paid considerable attention and investment to the Asian market represented by China. “With the further improvement of the industrial chain development in these emerging markets, coupled with the large population and increasing demand, we will increase investment to expand production capacity and enhance research and development capabilities to meet growing business needs.”

“Sustainable development is closely integrated with BASF’s business decisions”
the
The concept of sustainable development is implemented in all aspects of BASF’s business. “Whether it is product development, product design, or product production process, we must ensure that it is harmless to the environment and human body. On this basis, we also pay attention to raw material suppliers, logistics Both suppliers and customers can meet the requirements of sustainable development.” Dr. Lou explained BASF’s philosophy.
For BASF, sustainable development means the combination of economic success, environmental protection and social responsibility. The financial report for the second quarter shows that BASF’s forecast for the global economy is not as optimistic as that of the first half of the year, but this will not prevent BASF from completing its established goals. “We are cautiously optimistic, and we have many advantages.” Dr. Lou said, “As a world-class leading chemical company, BASF has a very wide product portfolio. Many of our products and applications are relatively less sensitive to economic cycles, and we provide What we provide to customers is not products, but solutions and product portfolios, and our huge investment in R&D confirms BASF’s position and value in the market.” Based on these advantages, BASF expects that in 2012, both in terms of salesThe amount, or the operating income excluding special items, will increase.
It is understood that BASF has released a comprehensive annual report for four consecutive years, introducing in detail the economic, environmental and social performance of the Greater China region in that year. Through such channels, active and effective communication and exchanges with various stakeholders are also improving the company. While being transparent, it further demonstrates BASF’s commitment to sustainable development.
