Zhejiang Petrochemical’s 27/600,000 tons/year PO/SM unit was successfully started up in one feeding!

Recently, Zhejiang Petrochemical Company's 27/600,000 tons/year PO/SM unit was successfully started up at one time. At 15:18 on June 16, the peroxidation reactor began to feed oxygen; at 15:38 on June 18, after analysis and testing, the propylene oxide and styrene products were confirmed to be qualified. The device adopts the propylene oxide co-production styrene process package independently developed by Changzhou Ruihua Company, and the engineering design is undertaken by Beijing Branch of China Huanqiu Engineering Co., Ltd. The device adopts fixed-bed epoxidation and dehydration process, and is the first large-scale PO/SM device with independent intellectual property rights in China. The smooth start-up of this device has opened up a new process path for the production of propylene oxide and styrene, breaking the long-term monopoly of foreign technology in the domestic propylene oxide industry. This is a milestone and epoch-making significance for China and even the global chemical industry.

On August 23, 2021, Zhejiang Petrochemical Phase II 1# 27/600,000 tons PO/SM combined plant started successfully in Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base. This device is one of the important devices in the chemical zone of Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base Integration Project (Phase II). The project scope covers 600,000 tons/year styrene plant and 270,000 tons/year propylene oxide unit.
