Desmopan®
The high-performance products of the GMP series are resistant to erosion, wear and fatigue, and are very durable. It’s also water-resistant and can withstand washing and frequent wiping without degrading over time. In addition, the series has good dimensional stability, flexibility and durability, and can withstand various forces without breaking or cracking, such as the force of tooth movement experienced by orthodontic braces. In addition, this series of products complies with the EU Regulation EU10/2011 on plastic materials and articles in contact with food (the text relevant to the European Economic Area), as well as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR
Relevant standards of 177.1680 (polyurethane resins), 21 CFR 177.2600 (rubber products for repeated use).
Lisa Ketelsen, head of Covestro’s TPU Asia Pacific region, added: “In addition to following strict food contact and health and safety production standards, our Changhua base has also obtained the ISCC
PLUS certification. This means that the Changhua site’s products can provide product specifications based on mass balance method with the share of alternative raw materials, supporting customers to achieve their sustainable development goals. These specifications not only help customers reduce their carbon footprint, but also maintain the same functionality and properties as fossil-based materials. ”
Mass balance distributes alternative non-fossil-based raw materials into individual products through a chain-of-custody approach. This makes it possible to trace material content through the value chain.
