Honeywell recently announced that its Spectra®
MG medical fiber series products added a superfine denier fiber. Spectra®
The ultrafine (UF) medical fiber product line is currently available in 25 dtex, which is stronger than polyester, nylon or other technologies used, and can be used in minimally invasive cardiovascular and orthopedic device designs, helping to Extend device life.
Compared with traditional polyethylene fibers, Honeywell’s Spectra® MG medical fibers are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene
(UHMWPE) made through a patented gel-spinning process, is an ultra-light, ultra-high-strength biocompatible material with excellent resistance to chemicals, water, fatigue, friction and abrasion. Honeywell Spectra®
The strength of MG medical fiber series products is 15 times that of steel wire (same weight) and 3 times that of polyester fiber (same volume). Spectra® MG medical fibers are ISO certified
13485 manufacturing certification, adhering to the highest quality management standards in the medical device industry, can provide customers with end-to-end manufacturing batch traceability.

Honeywell Spectra® MG
Medical fiber has officially obtained the qualification to manufacture and supply to the medical device industry, and has also completed the registration of the medical device master file (registration number: M2022003-000).
In April 2022, Honeywell’s Spectra® MG medical fiber product line will add color categories. For the orthopedic medical device market,
Spectra® colored medical fibers offer new advantages to existing medical devices as well as the latest trends in corrective surgery applications, including robotics to reduce surgery time and smart implants to flag dangerous bacteria. The 25-point tex specification products of the UF medical fiber series will be launched globally in the first quarter of 2023. The 10-point tex specification in this series of products will be launched in the first half of 2023.
