Coal price decline in Jiangsu narrowed in July

According to the monitoring of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, the average wholesale price of coal in July was 1134.62 yuan/ton, a decrease of 0.2% from the previous month, and a decrease of 5.4 percentage points from the previous month's decline. Among them, the price of anthracite was 1315.1 yuan/ton, a month-on-month increase of 3.2%; the prices of thermal coal and coking coal were 900.24 yuan/ton and 1188.53 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 2.2% and 2.3% respectively. Affected by wide-ranging high-temperature weather, the daily consumption of downstream power plants continued to be high, and the demand for thermal power grew rapidly. From the pit mouth to the port, the thermal coal market continues to strengthen, the inventory of power plants has fallen, and the demand has increased. The resumption of work and production of non-power-consuming enterprises has also increased energy consumption, which together promotes a month-on-month recovery in coal prices. At this stage, it is still high temperature in summer. Although the market is relatively weak, the daily consumption of power plants has returned to the peak, and there is still a phased release of procurement demand. It is expected that coal prices will rise slightly in early August, but due to the constraints of high inventory, the increase in coal prices will be limited, and the price will fluctuate.
