In May 2023, Puma (Puma) and Porsche Design (Porsche Design) collaborated to create a 3D Mtrx sneaker, the sole of which uses 3D printing technology. This is the first time Puma and Porsche Design use 3D printing technology to design the sole of sports shoes, which represents the trend of combining 3D printing production technology with sports shoe design and luxury brands in the future.
Porsche Design is a luxury brand of Porsche Automobile Company, and Puma is a famous sports brand. The two companies joined forces to launch the innovative 3D MTRX sneaker in 2023, with the aim of using the most advanced digital production technology and materials to create a sneaker with a sense of luxury, excellent performance and comfort.
Porsche Design has emphasized the grid structure of the sole, inspired by the brand's logo, and the elastic resins that make them up, which it claims promise superior performance, durability and comfort.
However, Porsche Design is silent on the manufacturing process of the shoe, saying only that the 3D printed sole was "developed exclusively for Porsche Design". We don't know the 3D printing process used—it's a resin process that's often used to 3D print shoes such as those made by Carbon—Porsche simply says that "soft cushioning and fully sky stability" and very high brightness. Even though the rest of the shoe isn't 3D printed, the carbon fiber and leather detailing on the upper is still stunning.
Porsche Design and Puma jointly launched3D MTRXSneakers have the following advantages:

The thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) used in the 3D MTRX also provides better mechanical resilience, tear resistance and flexibility, and the company subjected the sole to more than one million compression cycles in laboratory tests.

The sneakers are available at Porsche Design store, Porsche Design official website and Puma's official website, with a total price of $430. There are currently two colors available, black and white.
