Under the guidance of the “dual carbon” goal, the pace of green and low-carbon transformation in various industries has been accelerating. Wanhua Chemical launched a low-carbon MDI molded pallet solution to promote the green upgrade of the modern logistics packaging industry.
Recently, Wanhua Chemical, together with Qingdao Resentor, a leading enterprise of MDI molded pallets, entrusted SGS to carry out a cradle-to-grave carbon assessment on the greenhouse gas emissions of MDI molded pallet products in accordance with the life cycle assessment principles. Emission calculation, issued the first ISO 14067 product carbon footprint verification statement certificate in the pallet industry.
The greenhouse gases in this carbon emission verification include all greenhouse gases included in the IPCC report such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), and evaluate the CO2 equivalent of the product formation and the greenhouse gas emissions within 100 years Impact (i.e. 100-year evaluation period). The evaluation results show that the carbon footprint of an MDI molded pallet product with a dynamic load of 2-3 tons from cradle to grave is 5.967 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent.
Assuming that the MDI molded tray can be turned over 10 times in its life cycle, its single-use carbon emission is less than 1kg, which is more than 50% less than that of traditional molded trays. In addition, the mechanical properties and waterproof performance of MDI molded trays have also been greatly improved, providing high-performance, high-efficiency, and low-carbon emission solutions for the modern logistics and packaging industry, and helping modern enterprises to develop green and low-carbon.
In the future, Wanhua Chemical will continue to be committed to providing low-carbon and high-efficiency green products and comprehensive solutions, enabling the industry to develop green and high-quality, and creating a beautiful era of carbon neutrality.
About ISO 14067
“ISO14067:2018 Greenhouse Gases – Product Carbon Footprint – Quantification Requirements and Guidelines” issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an internationally recognized ISO standard for quantifying product carbon footprints. The standard specifies the principles, requirements and guidelines for quantifying and reporting product carbon footprints, and provides a unified specification for companies to evaluate product carbon emissions.
