According to the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics, as a major coal province, Shanxi Province has made solid progress in ensuring energy supply. From January to August, the output of raw coal above regulation was 898.016 million tons, an increase of 4.4%.
Data released by the bureau show that from January to August, the added value of industries above designated size in Shanxi Province increased by 3.6% year-on-year.
The three major categories maintained stable growth. The added value of the mining industry increased by 2.5%, the manufacturing industry increased by 6.2%, and the electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry increased by 3.2%. In terms of industries, new industrial momentum continues to grow. Among them, the added value of the manufacturing industry increased by 6.2%, of which the comprehensive utilization of waste resources industry increased by 59.6%; industrial strategic emerging industries increased by 13.4%, of which the energy conservation and environmental protection industry increased by 39.6%, both faster than the national level. Industrial growth rate exceeds provincial regulations.
Among the main regulated industrial products in Shanxi Province in the first eight months, the output of eight products: raw coal, pig iron, crude steel, steel products, raw aluminum, power generation, photovoltaic cells, and unconventional natural gas continued to grow. In addition to coal growth of 4.4%, conventional unconventional natural gas production increased by 7.1%; power generation increased by 5.7%, of which external power transmission increased by 14.1%.
In addition, from the perspective of supporting factors, electricity consumption and freight volume grew rapidly. Shanxi Province's total electricity consumption increased by 4.8% from January to August, of which industrial electricity consumption increased by 3.8%; road freight volume increased by 12.6%.
