In August 2023, affected by factors such as temperature and climate changes, crude oil price fluctuations, agricultural production processes, and construction project progress, Inner Mongolia coal prices increased month-on-month. According to data from the Production Materials Market Monitoring System of the Ministry of Commerce, in August, the average price of coal in Inner Mongolia was 813.75 yuan/ton, an increase of 1.3% month-on-month, and a decrease of 10% compared with the same period last year (hereinafter referred to as the same period last year). Among them, the average price of anthracite No. 2 washed lump coal was 859.14 yuan/ton, up 3.5% month-on-month, and down 7.2% year-on-year; the average price of thermal coal with a calorific value of 5,000-5,500 kcal was 679.86 yuan/ton, down 0.6% month-on-month, and year-on-year. A decrease of 7.8%; the average price of 1/3 of coking coal was 902.25 yuan/ton, an increase of 0.7% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 14.1%.
The Department of Commerce of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region stated that coal mine safety supervision has been further strengthened, local coal mine production capacity has declined, and market supply capacity has weakened. Refined oil prices are rising, and storage and transportation costs are increasing. Under the influence of the supply-guaranteing policy, demand for coal from power plants has remained high, inventories have fallen, and trading activity has increased, which together have pushed coal prices up month-on-month. The coal market is expected to be stable in the near future, with prices fluctuating up and down.
