As partners with “compatible concepts, same goals and complementary advantages”, the two parties had cordial talks focusing on deepening cooperation in the field of water treatment. In the future, the two parties will jointly develop and promote the comprehensive application of membrane materials in steel, chemical and other industries, give full play to their respective advantages, and continue to assist the transformation and upgrading of the steel and chemical industries.
In order to further enhance its influence in the field of environmentally friendly water treatment, Wanhua Chemical is actively building the second phase of the water treatment membrane project. The completion of this project not only improved Wanhua Chemical’s production capacity in the field of water treatment, but also laid a solid foundation for the company’s expansion in domestic and foreign markets.
Kou Guangwu, President of Wanhua Chemical, said that Baowu Water is a domestic first-class and internationally advanced high-tech public company for water and gas management. It is an expert in many fields such as zero wastewater discharge, ultra-low waste gas emissions, and comprehensive management of urban water environment. Wanhua Chemical will rely on continuous technological innovation and lean manufacturing to develop better and more stable membrane material products, helping Baowu Water achieve breakthroughs and innovations in the field of water treatment.

On August 1, 2018, the Yantai Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau disclosed the working procedures and main contents of the environmental impact assessment of the “Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. Membrane Factory Project”.
It is reported that the membrane factory project of Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. is built in Wanhua Industrial Park, with a total investment of approximately 470 million yuan and a total area of approximately 68,000 square meters.
The total membrane production capacity of this project is 6.19 million m2/a, the component production capacity is 50,000 pieces/year, and the filter element production capacity is 100,000 pieces/year.
Among them, RO membrane is 3 million m2/a, NF membrane is 600,000 m2/a, and UF membrane is
500,000 m2/a, hollow fiber membrane is 1 million m2/a, MF membrane is 1 million m2/a, and modified separation membrane is 90,000 m2/a.
Some of its related auxiliary facilities and public works rely on the existing facilities in the park, and the remaining parts will be built simultaneously in the area.
Wanhua Chemical continues to work hard on the construction of modern enterprise systems and innovation mechanisms, and continues to make new breakthroughs in the research and development of key core technologies. In April 2021, Wanhua’s independently developed reverse osmosis membrane industrial production line was officially put into production, breaking the monopoly of multinational companies in the field of mid-to-high-end industrial pure water and wastewater treatment, and ensuring the safety and controllability of my country’s industrial water.
On February 13, 2023, Wanhua Chemical’s official website announced before the approval of the environmental impact assessment of Wanhua Chemical’s membrane material device expansion project that the company plans to build a new reverse osmosis membrane production line and public works and auxiliary facilities in Yantai Industrial Park.
The separation and purification business is an environmentally friendly business segment of Wanhua Chemical that is widely used in chemical industry, municipal administration, electric power, electronics and other fields. It aims to provide safer and easier-to-access water resources for the sustainable development of mankind through filtration and purification technologies based on filter membranes and adsorption resins, and help various industries achieve efficient recycling of water resources.
Products include thermal ultrafiltration membranes, nanofiltration membranes and reverse osmosis membranes. Relying on Wanhua Chemical’s own R&D advantages, the separation and purification technology R&D team’s main research directions are nanofiltration membranes, reverse osmosis membranes, hollow fiber ultrafiltration membranes and adsorption resins. The products can be used in civil water purification, industrial pure water manufacturing, and wastewater treatment. Or reuse, seawater desalination and material separation and concentration.
“Membrane method” is membrane separation technology, which uses selective permeability membrane as the separation medium to selectively permeate the raw material side components to achieve the purpose of separation and purification. In short, keep the useful ones and leave the useless ones. The core of the membrane method is the selective permeability membrane, which is a material with selective separation function. When the solution comes into contact with the membrane, driving force is applied on both sides of the membrane, such as concentration difference, pressure difference or potential difference. Certain substances can pass through the membrane, while useless substances are intercepted, allowing the solvent and solute to be effectively separated. Engineers use the selective separation of membranes to separate, purify, and concentrate different components of the feed liquid to meet process requirements and environmental emission standards. Membranes can be divided into microfiltration (MF) membranes, ultrafiltration (UF) membranes, nanofiltration (NF) membranes, and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes according to the difference in pore size (or molecular weight cutoff). In view of the different separation accuracy of each membrane, they are also used in different industries and fields.
