Overview
Photoinitiator 784 is a highly active orange solid photoinitiator with good photoactivity, thermal stability and low toxicity. As an active diluent, it is mainly used with mono- or multi-functional vinyl monomers. Used with oligomers for UV and visible light curing of unsaturated prepolymers. It is particularly suitable for the curing of imaging or information storage photosensitive resins in high-tech and high-value-added fields, information storage equipment, such as photosensitive layers, holography, laser direct imaging, three-dimensional lithography, etc. It can initiate the polymerization reaction of unsaturated resins under the action of visible light or ultraviolet light. Curing can be carried out under UV light, visible light or even suitable laser irradiation, such as Ar-laser (488nm), FD-Nd/YAG-laser (532nm). Curing properties can be obtained by isolating oxygen during the curing process.
Features
Its photoinitiation process is neither of the cracking type nor of the hydrogen abstraction type. Due to the special photoinitiation mechanism of 784, it is very suitable for thick coatings and dark-colored curing systems. It can cure coatings with a thickness of more than 70um and black, red and high-pigment coatings; coupled with the ultra-wide UV and visible light absorption of 784 Band, can make full use of the light source, so it has high photosensitivity and photoinitiation activity. In addition, its photolyzed fragments are complexed with acrylate and do not migrate to the surface, making it safe and environmentally friendly. In addition, 784 has good thermal stability.
Table 1 shows the specifications and physical properties of photoinitiator 784
Features and applications
1. Photoinitiator 784 is a good visible light initiator. Its initiation process is neither a cleavage type nor a hydrogen abstraction type. Instead, after absorbing light energy, the photoisomerization changes into a ring-based photoreaction intermediate (A), which interacts with the acrylic ester in the oligomer and reactive diluent. The ester carbonyl group undergoes ligand displacement to generate free radicals (B), which initiates polymerization and cross-linking.
2. Photoinitiator 784 absorbs well in visible light and has a bleaching effect after photolysis. It is very suitable for visible light curing of thick coatings and can cure coatings with a thickness of more than 70um. Thermal decomposition temperature is 230°C. It can be boiled in acetic acid or sodium hydroxide solution for several hours without changing. It has excellent thermal stability.
3. Photoinitiator 784 can be used in photocuring systems of unsaturated resins under visible light or UV irradiation, such as photocuring systems composed of acrylic resin prepolymers and some monofunctional or multifunctional monomers.
4. The special light absorption characteristics and very fast reaction speed of photoinitiator 784 make it particularly suitable for use in photopolymer systems, such as optical coatings, holograms, laser imaging, printing, etc.
5. Photoinitiator 784 absorbs visible light, is very sensitive to oxygen, and has its inherent color. These characteristics limit its scope of use and is more suitable for use in some special fields.
Advantages
1. High photosensitivity and sensitivity from ultraviolet to visible light
2. Can effectively cure thick films, and can cure coatings with a thickness of more than 70μm
3. Suitable for dark light-cured coatings
4. Safety, environmental protection and hygiene
