Sodium lauryl sulfate (K12) is white or light yellow powder or liquid with a slight greasy smell.

1. Solubility:
Easily soluble in water, its solubility in water is lower than sodium laureth sulfate. The aqueous solution is colorless and transparent to translucent. The transparency is greatly affected by concentration and temperature. Generally, as the concentration of the solution increases, the opacity will increase; as the temperature decreases, the opacity will also increase.
2. Hygroscopicity:
Powdered sodium lauryl sulfate is easy to absorb moisture and agglomerate, but the agglomeration strength is not high.
3. Stability:
Stable to alkalis, weak acids and hard water; unstable to strong acids, easily hydrolyzed and reduced to alcohol; its stability is inferior to dodecane under acidic conditions Sodium sulfonate is close to sodium lauryl polyoxyethylene sulfate. It is flammable when exposed to open flames and high heat. It decomposes when heated to release toxic gases.
