Paraffin wax is a colorless to white translucent lump. Pure paraffin is white, while paraffin containing impurities is yellow. It is tasteless, odorless, and greasy. Soluble in ether, chloroform, benzene, petroleum ether, volatile oil or various fatty oils, slightly soluble in ethanol. It has stable chemical properties and does not react with acids, alkalis, oxidants and reducing agents. It will turn yellow under ultraviolet irradiation, can burn and decompose, and is stable at room temperature. According to the different degrees of processing and refining, it can be divided into three types: fully refined paraffin, semi-refined paraffin and crude paraffin.
The direct applications of fully refined paraffin are as follows:
1. Combustion: Candles, wax-based solids burn quickly, insensitive explosives, and smokeless explosives.
2. Coating:
(1) Water and gas barrier: food packaging, tool packaging, parts packaging; plant protection, fruit protection, slow-release fertilizer; multi-layer artificial board Waterproofing and shaping of solid wood floors; sealing of underwater explosives.
(2) Energy storage insulation: capacitors, resistors, reactors, electronic transformers, electronic tuners, electronic filters; Internet of Things electronic soft labels, circuit board packaging.
(3) Heat storage and temperature control: lithium battery thermal insulation, various temperature control sensors; firefighting suits, various refrigerators, and military equipment thermal stealth.
(4) Powder metallurgy forming materials.
3. Various additives: rubber protective wax, PVC external lubricant, hot melt adhesive viscosity reducer, polymerization inhibitor, anti-vulcanization agent, color masterbatch.
4. Model materials: wax model 3D printing, precision casting medium temperature mold material, plastic model material, wax figure material.
