Isooctyl palmitate (2EHP) is a clean-burning, biodegradable Degraded monoalcohol esters.
Isooctyl stearate, isooctyl palmitate, and isooctyl oleate are the three most common isooctyl esters in metal working fluids. They all have the characteristics of isooctyl ester and have particularly good wettability. Therefore, all three products can provide very good lubricity and processing fluid penetration in pure oil processing, such as high-speed cutting, drilling, and stamping.
Isooctyl palmitate has the following advantages over the other two esters:
Isooctyl palmitate is different from the other two esters. The advantage is that palmitic acid has a shorter carbon chain than oleic acid and stearic acid. Therefore, in the same unit area, the number of ester groups is more than that of the other two esters. Through the comparison of four-ball wear speckle test data, isooctyl palmitate has the best lubricity.
After high-temperature decomposition, isooctyl palmitate leaves little carbon residue without coking, and the processing surface is very clean. Therefore, it is often used in many processing environments that require no residue and high purity.
