On October 18, a comprehensive handover ceremony for the first phase of the 600,000 tons/year epoxy propane project of Sinochem Tianchen (Quanzhou) New Materials Co., Ltd. was held, marking that the project completed the construction tasks as scheduled and achieved success from The transformation from “blueprint” to “reality” will soon enter the stage of joint trial operation and start-up. Quangang Petrochemical Industrial Park Management Committee leaders Chen Sharon and Yang Xinzhi attended the ceremony.
During the event, the project site of Sinochem Tianchen (Quanzhou) New Materials Co., Ltd. served as a branch venue to simultaneously hold activities related to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., and was connected to the main venue. Under the witness of the guests, a comprehensive Chinese Submit certificate.
The first phase of the 600,000 tons/year epoxy propane project of Sinochem Tianchen (Quanzhou) New Materials Co., Ltd. was officially launched on July 12, 2022. Civil construction and safety were achieved on November 30 of the same year, and large-scale projects were completed on May 19, 2023. The important node of hoisting was fully delivered on October 18, successfully completing the construction task.
Introduction to 600,000 tons/year PO project
The 600,000 tons/year propylene oxide project is constructed by China Chemical Tianchen (Quanzhou) New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., with a total area of more than 1,000 acres and a total investment of 7.38 billion yuan. The project is located in Quangang Petrochemical Park Nanshan area. The total construction period of the project is 36 months, using HPPO technology.
The project will be implemented in two phases: in the first phase, a 1×300,000 tons/year hydrogen peroxide propylene oxide plant and a 2×450,000 tons/year 27.5% hydrogen peroxide plant (supporting 1×450,000 tons/year
50% hydrogen peroxide concentration process), and at the same time supporting the construction of raw material and finished product tank groups, air separation and air pressure, refrigeration station, loading and unloading pallet, circulating water station, condensate refining system, accident pool, main transformer and device substation, electromechanical instruments Maintenance, chemical warehouse, torch, incineration, sewage station and other public auxiliary projects, second phase construction
1×300,000 tons/year hydrogen peroxide process epoxy propane unit, 2×450,000 tons/year hydrogen peroxide unit (supporting 1×450,000 tons/year 50% hydrogen peroxide concentration process), and supporting the construction of public works and environmental protection projects.
Background
Tianchen’s hydrogen peroxide-based propylene oxide technology (HPPO) uses propylene and hydrogen peroxide as raw materials and adopts a self-developed catalyst system. It is highly innovative and has obtained 23 Chinese patent authorizations. Using this technology to prepare propylene oxide products, compared with the traditional chlorohydrin method, propylene consumption is reduced, and wastewater production and waste residue emissions are significantly reduced. This technology complies with the “Guidance Catalog for Industrial Structural Adjustment (2019 Edition)” issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and is conducive to promoting the industrial upgrading of the propylene oxide industry.
The first industrial demonstration device built based on this technology has been successfully put into production in May 2021, and the product indicators have reached the national standard high-grade product level. In January 2022, Tianchen Company, strategic investors, and employee follow-up investment platforms jointly established a project company and invested in the construction of the first phase of the Fujian Quangang 600,000 tons/year epoxy propane project; this project is a key introduction of the Quangang Petrochemical Industrial Park The chain-strengthening and chain-repairing project is also a major project to help local industries upgrade and reduce carbon emissions. In addition, several domestic units with a single production capacity of 150,000-300,000 tons/year are under construction, which will produce significant economic and social benefits.
A series of projects built based on this technology will help high-quality regional economic development and the realization of the “double-carbon” goal. They can effectively meet my country’s growing demand for propylene oxide and are of great significance to increasing the domestic self-sufficiency rate of propylene oxide.
