The latest data from the General Administration of Customs shows that in September 2023, China imported 30.198 million tons of thermal coal (including lignite, bituminous coal and sub-bituminous coal, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 19.04% and a month-on-month decrease of 9.41%. From January to September 2023, China imported a total of 261 million tons of thermal coal, a year-on-year increase of 77.62%.
In September 2023, China imported 12.921 million tons of lignite, a year-on-year decrease of 18.75% and a month-on-month decrease of 2.31%.
From January to September 2023, China imported a total of 120 million tons of lignite, a year-on-year increase of 33.23%.
