EIA reported that crude oil inventories in Cushing, Oklahoma, the delivery place for NYMEX crude oil futures, increased by 213,000 barrels.
The report showed that the crude oil processing volume of refineries decreased by 207,000 barrels per day that week. Refinery capacity utilization fell 0.5% from the previous week.
EIA data showed that U.S. gasoline inventories increased by 160,000 barrels in the week to October 20 to 223.5 million barrels, while market estimates were for a decrease of 900,000 barrels.
Inventories of distillates, including diesel and heating oil, fell by 1.7 million barrels to 112.1 million barrels during the week, compared with market expectations for a decrease of 1.2 million barrels.
EIA data showed that U.S. net crude oil imports increased by 539,000 barrels per day that week.
