Dushanzi Petrochemical builds a chemical aircraft carrier

Recently, China Petroleum Dushanzi Petrochemical Company held a promotion meeting for the construction of the Tarim 1.2 million tons/year phase II ethylene project, marking that the project has fully entered the construction stage. So far, Dushanzi Petrochemical has started to march towards a "chemical aircraft carrier" with an annual production capacity of ethylene exceeding 3 million tons.

The project was included in the national petrochemical industry development planning and layout plan on July 18, and was approved by the autonomous region on July 24. It is a "demonstration project" for PetroChina to promote the transformation and upgrading of refining and chemical business and achieve high-quality development.

The implementation of this project is of great significance to the cultivation and expansion of Xinjiang's oil and gas production and processing industry clusters and the improvement of the development level of Xinjiang's olefin industry chain. Relying on the "chain length" enterprise of Dushanzi Petrochemical, with polyolefin and rubber as raw materials, the downstream can further deploy and extend the chemical industry.

Ethylene production is a measure of a country's petrochemical development level. In 1995, Dushanzi Petrochemical completed and put into operation a 140,000-ton/year ethylene project, realizing a zero breakthrough in Xinjiang's ethylene production; in 2009, it built and put into operation a 10-million-ton refinery and one-million-ton ethylene project, becoming the largest refining and chemical integration enterprise in China at that time; In 2019, the annual ethylene production capacity will reach 1.4 million tons, ranking first in the country; in 2021, the 600,000-ton/year ethane-to-ethylene project in Tarim will be successfully started at the first time.

So far, Dushanzi Petrochemical has formed a production capacity of 1.4 million tons in the headquarters, 600,000 tons in Tarim, and a total of 2 million tons in the north and south. After the newly launched Tarim Phase II ethylene production capacity of 1.2 million tons is completed and put into operation, the total production capacity will exceed 3 million tons.
