According to the market operation monitoring data of Tianjin, the average price of coal in Tianjin was 716 yuan/ton in the first week of August (July 31-August 6), a decrease of 0.1% from the previous month. The main reason for price instability last week was that thermal coal resources were sufficient and stocks were high, and power plants no longer had the urgency to "burn coal". Second, the massive influx of imported coal restrained the room for rising coal prices. Third, the low inventory status of the coal, coke and steel industry chain has lasted for more than half a year, and the price response is sensitive. The first half of August is still at the peak of the summer season, but the daily consumption will start to decline in the second half of August, and the demand will further decrease. At the same time, the overall social inventory is still at a relatively high level, and there will be greater pressure on prices after the expected weakening of the peak season. The superimposed current hydropower is still significantly lower than the normal level, and the water level of most hydropower stations is higher than in previous years. There is still room for subsequent hydropower development, and it is expected that the power generation time will be extended, so the price will continue to be weak in the later period.
